A Block for Trish
Hello everyone...and Happy New Year! One of my goals this year is to finish my Bee Blocks well before the end of the month...so this morning my number one priority was to make Trish's fun block!

Catch Up
Hi Friends, I've had a lot of catch up to do!
I finished the block for Emily a few days ago. I never thought paper piecing could be fun, but this block was! I really enjoyed putting it together. And I loved the navy blue fabrics. Emily's finished quilt is going to be amazing.
I finished my string block for Amy before December. But I didn't get it in the mail and then December hit... and I was busy making cookies, cookies and more cookies for my family business.
I really loved making this string block and I'm sure I'll make a whole quilt sometime in the future.
And last but not least, I finished the block for April, also before December.
This was the most challenging block so far for me. I think I'm too frugal to be really good at paper piecing. And I stressed about the seams matching up... and which way to press them (I mostly pressed them open to reduce the bulk).
But I am so glad I had the opportunity to make this gorgeous block. I learned so much making it, which is the very reason I was excited to join this bee. Thank you April for challenging me! It's a truly stunning block... and one I would repeat making... if just for a pillow maybe.
Promise honest, I'm off to the post office today!
Cheers,
Calli

I Double Dipped
Here I am!
I have resurfaced!
I am so sorry to be such a bad bee!
It is my New Year's resolution to get it together and catch up on
my blocks!
Especially since on Monday's I host a Block of the Month Rehab
on my blog.
So, I kind of double dip when I can show my Bee blocks!
I thought after making the renegade blocks using
"free form" (which was ironically stressful for me). that
this paper pieced block would be nice and easy...
but it wasn't so.
I stressed over each and every seam... and it took me
forever to make. But... whining aside, it is a beautiful block
and I can't wait to see all of them together,
I am so glad that I am a part of this group... it gives me a way to stretch and
grow as a quilter.
But, non-the-less, I was happy to get Trish's block
and make up a simple and sweet little block...
I had to go ahead and make another, especially since I had some of the
same fabrics in my stash.
I had emailed back and forth with Nedra and she clarified that Trish
had wanted a Churn Dash block style, which is the same as
the block photo she provided...
just different fabric placement.
I also just used a solid white background fabric for the half
square triangles... because I didn't want the block to
look too busy and the directional print would have been all wonky I thought.

For Trish...
I'm just working on Emily's block this afternoon, then I'll be headed to the post office!
Block for Trish
(Don't mind all the threads that still need trimming...)
It's such a fun quick block!
Trish's Block
Happy New Year
my fellow
Bees Knees!
Isn't it fun to be back together
for 2013?
I love the fabrics Trish sent us for
her
Churn Dash block.
Just so you know
(because I asked her)
even though she sent us the link to
Greek Cross
(that uses 4-6 fabrics)
she wants us to use just the two fabrics
in our packet
= Churn Dash
Yes, the pattern is the same!
My block is now in the
mail and on it's way to you Trish :)

january block.
Hello Ladies and Happy New Year! I am so excited that January is my month to mail out fabric for blocks! The block I chose is simple and fun. I copy catted Sherri's block idea, since I had so much fun making mine for her. The picture above is the block I made for Sherri.
What size quilt block do you want your bee partners to make? (Give finished and unfinished measurements, just to be sure.) finished will be 12" and unfinished will be 12.5"
Can your partners use any of her own stash fabric to use in your quilt block? If so, are there any limitations? That would be nice, please, but no pressure. :o)
Is there a specific color of thread (white/off white) you want your partners to sew with? nope, either is fine
Does your partners have to use at least a little bit of every fabric you send or can your partners decide? please use the fabrics I am sending
Do
you have a general theme or is it up to your partners to decide? Are
there any specific themes that you do NOT want in your quilt block?
Likes/dislikes?
link to block : http://www.freshlemonsquilts.com/?p=1113
Will you allow any embellishments on the quilt block (i.e. embroidery, raised items such as yo-yos or fabric origami)? please no embellishments, thanks, however, there are a few fabrics that have characters in them, that if possible, I am hoping can be "fussy cut" to emphasize the cuteness of the block
Can you link us to any flickr or Pinterest photos that you would like us to use as inspiration for your quilt block?
If
your partners are super motivated and are able to make two blocks out
of the fabric you send, would you accept more than one block from your
partners? that would be so sweet, but I am pretty sure the amount of fabric I am sending will only make one block (each bundle has two separate fabrics)
Do
you want your partners to return any leftover larger size scraps to you
when they return the completed blocks or can they keep them for their
own scrap stash? please feel free to keep any fabric that remains
Thank you so much. This will be such a special quilt that I will hold most dear to my heart. :o)
