Blocks for Amy

It was so much fun to get to sew these blocks for Amy! I thought that some of my Marmalade and Sew Cherry scraps went along perfectly with the fabrics Amy sent! First up is the 12 1/2'' block.

I also made a 6 1/2'' block...these were so much fun to make...and they went together quickly!

I hope you like them Amy!

May: Amy Smart Blocks!

Oooh, I had "sew" much fun creating these fun squared up blocks! When I got my little package I knew exactly how I wanted to piece the sweet fabric scraps together. Here is the first block I did is a 12.5" x 12.5" block.
I added to the sides a piece from Dress Up Days, going to stores next week!
I just loved the little apples and knew I had to create this block with the yellows, reds, aqua and a bit of white. I feel that the colors play so well together. It makes me sooooo happy! The next block is 6.5" x 6.5"!
Then I mixed the red, orange, and green! It makes me want to go climb
a tree and snag and apple to eat! Another cheery happy block!
I want to thank Amy for involving me in this fun group of women! This has been so much fun, getting the fabric to play, and be a little working bee...creating a block for an amazing quilt! I can't wait to see it all come together!

XOXO,
Shari

I had "sew" much fun piecing these blocks together! Even though I was late in getting them done, they will be going in the mail tomorrow and Sherri I hope you like them! The first block I did the Greek Cross from Fresh Lemons.
I love how Happy Zombie and my fabric (Hoo's in the Forest) goes together!
Then I had to make an adorable house block using Olive and Ollie's sweet tutorial!
Of couse I added another piece of fabric from Fox Trails!
Sherri... I truly hope you like these blocks as i had fun making them!

XOXO,
Shari

Amy Smarts Block

I'm really glad I was invited into this bee, even though my name is not Amy.
As in Amy Smart
or Amy Ellis
or Amy Webb.
And have I mentioned that I have a daughter named Amy?
Some of the most wonderful people in the world seem to be named Amy!

I enjoyed making Amy Smarts Framed block so much, I made her two.

I added in a little extra from my stash.

But mostly used what Amy sent us.
And, I'm really enjoying seeing what all of you are making with your fabric strips.
This is going to be a wonderful quilt.

bee blocks for Amy.

I loved creating Amy's bee blocks, with her happy and bright fabrics!  I was able to add some favorite Pam Kitty Morning fabric as the border as well.
Heading to the post office this morning!
Have a wonderful day!  Trish xo

Summer Star for Sherri (say that ten times fast.)

Just got a chance to finish it last night! I put together a few block ideas for this one, and I hope you love it. Your fabric choices were so fun, and I couldn't help but throw some orange in there just from me. :) I'm calling it "Summer Star" because the colors remind me of a bag of popsicles. Or a sno cone. Or both.
Yum.
xoxo

May Block - Amy Smart

Whoa. May totally snuck up on me. Sorry for the delay getting this out. These little bundles will be in the mail asap!

Here is some inspiration for the quilt I'd like to make.

What size quilt block do you want your bee partners to make? (Give finished and unfinished measurements, just to be sure.)
  • I would like a 12" finished (12 1/2" unfinished block) It can be one large square within a square/logcabin/framed block, or it can be made up of multiple squares.
  • If you are feeling ambitious, and/or have enough fabric, you could make a second block measuring 6" finished (6.5 unfinished). But no pressure if life is busy.
Can your partners use any of his/her own stash fabric to use in your quilt block? If so, are there any limitations?
  • Yes. Feel free to add from your own stash, if you like! But please keep the colors to bright, saturated reds, oranges, yellows, green or turquoise or Kona Snow.
Is there a specific color of thread (white/off white) you want your partners to sew with?
  • Anything neutral is fine.
Does your partners have to use at least a little bit of every fabric you send or can your partners decide?
  • Your decision. :)
Do you have a general theme or is it up to your partners to decide? Are there any specific themes that you do NOT want in your quilt block? Likes/dislikes?
  • I prefer square and straight, not wonky for this one.
If your partners are super motivated and are able to make two blocks out of the fabric you send, would you accept more than one block from your partners?
  • Yes! I'll take any 12.5 or 6.5 (unfinished) blocks you want to send. ;)
Do you want your partners to return any leftover larger size scraps to you when they return the completed blocks or can they keep them for their own scrap stash?
  • If there is something special you'd like to keep, please do, as a token to remember me by.  If you don't want to keep something, return the scraps with the block and I'll use them for additional blocks for the quilt.
YAY! I'm so excited to see what you all come up with and I promise already that I'll love every one. :)
